The park police unit was established in 2003 with the formation of Millennium Park which runs along the Grand River on the county’s west side. This unit consists of seasonal Kent County Sheriff's Office Deputies. All of the officers have full police authority to enforce the county park ordinances, conservation laws, as well as state and federal laws.

Parks Police Quads

Park officers use a variety of patrol methods within the park from the primary foot patrol, bicycle, all-terrain vehicle, off-road vehicle, patrol car, and boat. Officers are primarily concerned with the safety and security of the park patrons. You can find a park officer patrolling the Millennium Park almost all of the time when it is open to the public. In addition to Millennium Park, county park police officers routinely patrol Wabasis Park and periodically patrol each and every county park.
