Limited Access
For the health and safety of the public and our community, the Kent County Probate Court has limited
in-person access at all hearings and at the Probate Court Clerk’s office.
Remote Participation at Hearings
The Court is conducting hearings virtually via Zoom, and in-person attendance at hearings is
prohibited. All hearings are being livestreamed for public viewing on YouTube. Further information
about the Court’s virtual courtroom may be accessed here. Please refer to the instructions provided
with your Notice of Hearing, or contact the Court at probatecourt@kentcountymi.gov to obtain
instructions for connecting to Zoom.
Contacting the Court
There will be no in-person assistance available at the Probate Court clerk’s office during this time.
However, general inquiries, requests for hearing dates, and requests for assistance may be directed
to
probatecourt@kentcountymi.gov. Questions or requests for assistance regarding mental health
matters may be directed to
mentalhealthdivision@kentcountymi.gov. For further assistance, you may
also call the Probate Court clerk’s office at (616) 632-5440.
Remote Participation at Hearings
Petitions and documents for emergency matters may be filed:
- via email, at probatecourt@kentcountymi.gov. Filing fees must be promptly sent to the Court
by mail. Filings are subject to return or rejection if filing fees are not promptly received.
- in the designated drop box, located near the front entrance of the Courthouse, or
- through the mail
Probate Court Filings
Documents may be filed by mail, or using the Court’s designated drop boxes, located at the Courthouse behind the front entrance and
outside of the Probate Court Clerk’s office on the second floor.
Only the documents listed below will be accepted via email, at probatecourt@kentcountymi.gov.
Filing fees must be promptly sent to the Court by mail. Filings are subject to return or rejection if filing fees are not promptly received. Accepted filings include:
- Guardianship or Conservatorship Petitions requesting the appointment of a temporary guardian or special conservator
- Acceptances of Appointment for emergency guardianship or conservatorship cases
- Petitions to Withdraw
