Bureau of Equalization

Property Description & Mapping

The Property Description and Mapping Division of the Equalization Department creates and maintains property tax maps for all parcels of land in Kent County. The staff also updates all property descriptions and ownership records for most area municipalities. Map products and property information records are created for general reference by local municipalities, title companies, realtors, real estate developers, appraisal firms, law firms, surveyors, environmental companies, architectural and engineering firms and the general public for many purposes.

The property maps include planimetric "plain" parcel maps, aerial photographs, and composite maps that combine the parcel maps against an aerial photographic backdrop. Copies of each of these types of maps are available to the public for a fee.

Departmental maps and property information are available for review from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily. Departmental staff are available to assist with any questions regarding property in Kent County. Copies of all maps can be ordered and picked up at the office. Maps also can be ordered by phone, fax, or e-mail.
