Each summer Kent County seeks energetic, responsible and service-oriented individuals for seasonal employment at the Parks Department and John Ball Zoological Garden. Seasonal employees often serve as the front line representatives and support system of these seasonal facilities. The recruitment cycle for seasonal employment typically begins in mid-February and continues throughout the busy summer season. Kent County values the work of our seasonal staff as they are important to the efficient and quality services offered during our busiest season.

Zoological Garden

Experience a fun, friendly and unique work environment at John Ball Zoo. Each season John Ball Zoo offers opportunities to individuals who enjoying working with the public to provide superior customer service. Seasonal staff engage in the care and upkeep of the zoo and adjoining park. Taking part in the Summer Discovery program to educate children about animals, conservation and science related themes is an exciting opportunity for individuals who enjoy teaching and working with children. Seasonal staff also help to engage the visitors in the exploration of nature and wildlife while caring for the animal collection. Each of these exciting and meaningful opportunities contributes to a positive guest experience, a quality workplace for staff and the well-being of our animals.

Many of our positions work closely with the public such as working behind the sales counter of the golf course, creating a fun environment for the kids at the campgrounds or simply maintaining the appearance of the park grounds.
