What does WIC Provide?

Breastfeeding Promotion, Education & Support

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends breastfeeding for the first year of life. The Kent County Health Department WIC program has a Lactation Support Team comprising of International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLC), Certified Lactation Specialists, Lactation Educators, Breastfeeding Peer Counselors, Registered Dietitians and Registered Nurses ready to assist mothers with their breastfeeding needs.

Many types of breast pumps are also available to be loaned to those who may be having lactation problems or who may be returning to work or school.

Please call our Breastfeeding Peer Warm Line at 616-632-7019 to leave a message for a member of our Lactation Support Team to contact you.
