Employee Recognition For Quality Service

4th Quarter 2016 - Recognized Employee

At Kent County, providing quality service to our customers is our number one priority.  Our mission is to be an effective and efficient steward in delivering quality services for our diverse community.  Our priority is to provide mandated services, which may be enhanced and supplemented by additional services to improve the quality of life for all of our citizens within the constraints of sound fiscal policy.

Steve Bell, with the Kent County Fiscal Services – Central Services Division, is recognized as the Kent County Quality Service Employee of the 4th Quarter for helping to fulfill Kent County’s mission by providing quality service to citizens of Kent County.

The person who nominated Steve wrote, ““Steve has always been an excellent resource for me. He gives honest feedback on my documents (fonts don't look right, photos print fuzzy), he always reviews documents before printing and frequently finds errors that I missed, and he makes great suggestions to save money and improve the appearance of my projects. He's taken time to show me how to use software and he's patient with me as I learn how to maneuver through it. He teaches without being bossy. He always fits my last-minute projects in (even if it makes his other 'rush' jobs be more rushed). He and the Central Services crew have very quick turnaround - I'm usually shocked to see the packaging sitting on my desk so quickly. Steve is a great asset to Central Services and to the County. He helps me put DPW's best foot forward... in print form!””

Number of Years Employed by Kent County:  16 years.

The hardest thing I’ve ever done: Coordinating the international adoption of my daughter in Guatemala while newly employed in the Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Management. I will never forget how gracious and patient Lieutenant Jim Vanbendegom was during that year.

Three people (living or dead) I’d invite to dinner: Thomas Jefferson, Christopher Hitchens and Bono.

You’d be surprised to learn that: From 1998 to 2004, I performed with another Kent County employee in an Irish musical duo at pubs and festivals.

The thing that I like most about working for Kent County is: Working downtown Grand Rapids with fantastic people, it’s like a family.

Please join us in congratulating Steve for earning Kent County’s Employee Recognition for Quality Service Award.  If you know a Kent County employee who is deserving of this recognition, please complete a nomination form at www.accesskent.com/qualityservice or on the Kent County intranet.
