Employee Recognition For Quality Service
Previously Recognized Employees
3nd Quarter 2010
Tonya Walkons is recognized as the Kent County Quality Service Employee of the 3rd Quarter for helping to fulfill Kent County’s mission by providing her customers with outstanding quality service. The individual who nominated Ms. Walkons had this to say:
"Deputy Walkons provided aid to me when my car broke down at Sam's Club on Alpine Avenue. My car stalled and I was looking to call a wrecker. I noticed a Kent County Sheriff's car and knocked on the window. This action started a chain of events which I can only describe as a life saver for me.
I am a Newaygo County resident and was picking up groceries for my wife's restaurant. My car was packed full of perishables in coolers on a 90 degree day when it stalled. Deputy Walkons was probably responsible for keeping me from having a heat stroke. She was extremely generous and helpful in getting my car back on the road. She called a wrecker for me and then gave me a ride to get a gas can and dry gas, hoping that my problem was just contaminated fuel. The car started after putting in the fuel and I was able to continue on my way home, cancelling the need for a wrecker. Deputy Walkons went above and beyond by carting my 300 pound, six foot frame to Walmart and to the gas station in an effort to get me back on the road. She also gave me a gift card to use in the pump at Sam's and refused to take my cash to reimburse her card. She wrote this action off as "paying ahead" on good deeds. This is something you don't encounter often. My thanks go out to Deputy Tonya Walkons."
Please join us in congratulating Tonya for earning Kent County's Employee Recognition for Quality Service Award.
