Employee Recognition For Quality Service
1st Quarter 2018 - Recognized Employee
At Kent County, providing quality service to our customers is our number one priority. Our mission is to be an effective and efficient steward in delivering quality services for our diverse community. Our priority is to provide mandated services, which may be enhanced and supplemented by additional services to improve the quality of life for all of our citizens within the constraints of sound fiscal policy.
Thomas (Tom) McCutcheon, with the Kent County Sheriff’s Office, is recognized as the Kent County Quality Service Employee of the 1st Quarter of 2018 for helping to fulfill Kent County’s mission by providing quality service to the citizens of Kent County. The individual who nominated Tom wrote:
“Officer McCutcheon has continuously mentored our junior during times of suicidal depression, making bad choices and even drugs. He's never turned his back on him and always made sure he was okay, even off duty. He's taken him fishing during the summer to help him feel comfortable while talking to his counselor and has built an irreplaceable relationship with him. Every time you see him, he's smiling. Even when some kids are raising chaos, his demeanor changes their thoughts and actions. There aren’t enough words I can come up with to even partially describe how supportive he has been to our entire family. I wish there was a way to repay him for the good that he has done. Him being recognized for going beyond his level of duty would only be a small thank you from our family. As he always tells me...."Never give up.”
Number of years employed by Kent County: 24 years and 8 months.
Hardest thing I’ve ever done: Making a death notification.
Three people (alive or dead) I’d invite to dinner: My parents, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and any service man or woman. They are this country's truest heroes.
Surprised to learn: That my parents aren’t my biological parents.
Thing I like the most about working for Kent County: I work with a great group of professionals, especially my brothers and sisters at the Sheriff's Office.
Please join us in congratulating Tom for earning Kent County’s Employee Recognition for Quality Service Award. If you know a Kent County employee who is deserving of this recognition, please complete a nomination form at www.accesskent.com/qualityservice or on the Kent County intranet.
