The Energy Use Reduction Policy set forth by the Board of Commissioners ensures that the County commits itself to continually pursuing ways to reduce energy use. This commitment is especially important as the demand for energy and the costs of energy increase. The graph shows the comparison of the amount of energy demand as measured in degree days, and the amount of energy used as measured in million British Thermal Units (mBTU). When use is less than demand (primarily determined by the weather) it reflects the success of the County’s energy reduction strategies. Changes in programming (e.g., hours of operation) or other building activities (e.g., construction or remodeling) may also impact use in any given period.
