Kent County Energy Use

Energy Reduction Program

In 2009, the Kent County Board of Commissioners adopted a Policy for an Energy Use Reduction Program. To assist in implementing this policy, the County Administrator has appointed a work team comprised of members from the Kent County Sheriff's Department, Facilities Management, Human Resources, Fiscal Services, County Clerk/Register of Deeds, and County Administration.

The Energy Committee is currently administering a $2.8 million formula grant awarded by the Department of Energy through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. To plan for the implementation of these funds and to meet the Department of Energy (DOE) funding requirements, Kent County developed an Energy Efficiency and Conservation Strategy to guide the short-term use of these funds as well as a longer-term strategy for energy conservation and cost avoidance (For a copy of the full report, click here). Kent County is committed to tracking energy use and now has energy consumption information available online (click here). This data and information will be updated when information becomes available.
