contest was adjudged on Dec 6th, 2005 by a panel of judges comprising
of Herschell Turner (Past County Commissioner &
Artist), George Bayard (Artist & owner of Bayard
Gallery of Fine African Art), Maranda (WOOD TV8),
Allyn Guerra (Print/Graphic Designer & conducts
public art displays), and David Du (Artist &
Faculty member of Kendall College of Art). Not seen in the picture
are Eva Martinez (Artist & Professor at Grandville
Avenue Academy of Art). and William Alexander of Grand Rapids Art
Museum was also present at the judging event. |

The
contest was received with enthusiasm, and there was overwhelming participation
from employees encompassing many County departments. |
The
total number of posters received was approximately 60. A special thank
you to all County employees who encouraged their family members to
participate! |
Several
prizes will be awarded to the winners and all participants at a ceremony
commemorating Cultural Insight Council’s 5th anniversary in
February 2006. |
The
Poster Contest Committee consisted of Sangeeta Ghosh (Administrator’s
Office), Tom Carnegie (Human Resources), Raji Daniel (Fiscal Services),
Juan Saldivar (IT), Lorraine Hopson (DPW), Mike Loxterman (IT), and
Kate Adams (Register of Deeds). Many other members of the Cultural
Insight Council contributed to the success of this event. |
