Application Process Overview
New employment opportunities are posted to the Human Resources website every Friday at 5:00 PM.
All candidates must submit a Kent County Application for Employment to be considered for available employment opportunities. Cover letters and resumes are strongly encouraged, but will only be accepted with an employment application (documents should be submitted in Word or PDF format). If a position requires a Skills Assessment (see job announcement details), testing must be completed at the Human Resources Department prior to the position closing date.
All application materials must be submitted by 5:00 PM on the closing date indicated for each position. Note: Once you submit your application, if you wish to apply for additional Employment Opportunities, you must submit a new Kent County Application for Employment.
Your application materials will be reviewed by a Human Resources Representative. It may take 2-4 weeks to complete the review process.
You will be notified by telephone if you are selected for an interview. If you are not selected for an interview, you will be notified by mail or email as soon as possible.
You can also check Job Opportunities Status for position updates. We appreciate your patience during the entire application process.
Tips on completing the application process
- Neatness counts! If you are submitting a hand written application, please write legibly.
- Follow the instructions carefully.
- Fill out the application completely. Do not leave any sections blank. In describing your job responsibilities, do not write “See Resume”; you must detail that information on your application. Also be sure to indicate your reason for leaving your current/prior employer and whether your position was full-time or part-time.
- Be honest. Omission or misrepresentation of information may be sufficient cause for rejecting your application.
- List professional references who are familiar with your work.
- If you are attaching documents with an online application, please use one of the following formats: Word or PDF.
- Last, but not least, be sure to submit your application and complete any assessment requirements by the deadline.
