Daryl Delabbio came to Kent County, Michigan in September 1995 as Assistant County Administrator. He was appointed County Administrator/Controller of Kent County since September 1998. Kent County, which includes the City of Grand Rapids, is a full-service County of 600,000 persons that maintains a correctional facility, airport, zoo, and is responsible for many judicial and human service functions. As County Administrator/Controller, Delabbio is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of County departments, divisions, and agencies staffed with approximately 1,900 employees, and for preparing and administering a $367 million operating budget and $5 million capital budget. Prior to coming to Kent County, Delabbio was City Manager of Rockford, Michigan for 11 years, and held administrative positions with two other Michigan communities from 1977 to 1984. He holds a BA in political science and a Master of Management from Aquinas College, a Master of Public Administration from Wayne State University, and a Ph.D. from Western Michigan University. Delabbio is active in numerous professional and civic organizations, including the Michigan Local Government Management Association (President in 2001), International City/County Management Association (Nominating Committee 2001; Awards Evaluation Panel 2002-2005, Chair 2004-2005; and Credentialing Advisory Board, 2008-2011), and Michigan Association of County Administrative Officers (currently President). He also serves on the Boards of Directors of The Right Place, Inc., West Michigan Strategic Alliance, Grand Valley Metropolitan Council, Grand Valley State University School of Public and Non-Profit Administration Advisory Board, Spectrum Health Healthier Communities Community Commitment Advisory Committee, and the Davenport University Maine School of Business Advisory Council. Delabbio has been married to Connie since 1977, an elementary school teacher in the Rockford (Michigan) Public School System.
