Why It Matters

Clearance rates are one measure of case flow management and indicate the extent to which a court is keeping up with incoming caseload. If a clearance rate is more than 100%, more cases were disposed than were filed during the year. If a clearance rate is less than 100%, fewer cases were disposed than were filed during the year. The higher the percentage the more efficient the court is.
