Kent County Health Department Recognizes March as National Nutrition Month®

(Grand Rapids, Mich) – In recognition of National Nutrition Month®, the Kent County Health Department encourages residents to learn more about healthy eating habits and make informed food choices.

The Kent County Health Department offers a variety of services to help residents improve their eating habits. The Health Department’s Registered Dieticians can provide health related information on a variety of topics including: “fad” diets, heart healthy menus and more. They are also available to present information on a variety of nutrition topics to community groups.

The Kent County Health Department has also published “What’s for Lunch?: A Guide to Better Menu Choices at Local Fast Food Restaurants.” “What’s for Lunch?” provides useful nutrition information for restaurants throughout Kent County. Copies of “What’s for Lunch?” can be purchased through the Health Department’s Health Education and Promotion program for $5.00 plus a $1.00 shipping fee.

National Nutrition Month® is a nutrition education and information campaign sponsored annually by the American Dietetic Association. The campaign is designed to focus attention on the importance of developing sound eating and physical activity habits.
