County Seeks Citizens for Millennium Park Community Committee
GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN, Thursday, June 9, 2005
The Kent County Board of Commissioners, at this morning’s Commission meeting, approved forming a 13-member Millennium Park Community Committee to facilitate communication between citizens/users of Millennium Park and the County. Ten of the thirteen slots (2-year terms) on the newly formed advisory committee are for citizens, with the other three being County Commissioners. Two County residents from each of the 4 cities (Grandville, Grand Rapids, Walker, and Wyoming) touching Millennium Park will be appointed along with 2 County residents from outside those same cities. Citizens interested in serving may contact the Board of Commissioners’ office (616-336-4270) for a County resume form (PDF). The deadline for submitting the resume is June 30. The Board of Commissioners plan to make the appointments before the end of summer.
The Millennium Park Community Committee is anticipated to have their first meeting this fall and will meet at least semi-annually providing a defined opportunity for public input outside of formal Commission meetings.
