Kent County Health Department Employees Donate More Than $1100 to Local Charities

(Grand Rapids, MI)— Kent County Health Department (KCHD) employees donated more than $1100 to local non-profit agencies through their 2005 Jeans for Charity campaign. This is the 10th year KCHD has conducted its campaign.

Each Friday, KCHD employees donate one dollar to their division’s Jeans for Charity fund for the privilege of wearing jeans to work. All of the Health Department’s four divisions participate in Jeans for Charity. Each division then designates which charity receives their funds. This year’s list of recipients included: March of Dimes, In the Image, Cherry Street Health Services, Treats for Troops, House of Blessings and Catherine’s Care Center.

“KCHD employees are on the front lines everyday helping to protect and promote the health of Kent County residents; they see the needs in our community. Their dedication and generosity goes well beyond the work they do here,” said Cathy Raevsky, Kent County Health Department’s Administrative Health Officer.

KCHD ended the year with a department-wide holiday donation drive for the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans. Employees were encouraged to bring in “luxury” items for the Home’s residents such as crossword puzzle books, packaged candies and nuts and personal care items. Seven large boxes of items were delivered to the Veteran’s Home. (see attached photo)
