What does WIC Provide?
Breastfeeding Promotion, Education and Support
The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends breastfeeding for the first year of life. The Kent County Health Department WIC program has Registered Dietitians and Registered Nurses ready to assist mothers with the basics of breastfeeding. The Kent County Health Department WIC Program also works in cooperation with the Michigan State University Extension and their Mother-to-Mother Breastfeeding Program to provide breastfeeding counseling.
Many types of breast pumps are also available to be loaned to those who may be having lactation problems or who may be returning to work or school.
