Kent County Millennium Park

Fred Meijer Millennium Trail Network

Thanks to a generous contribution from The Meijer Foundation, Kent County Parks has been building an extensive network of trails within the boundaries of Millennium Park’s 1,500 acres. To date, 13 miles have been completed, with about ten miles paved and three miles surfaced with crushed limestone.

The Fred Meijer Millennium Trail Network connects with Kent Trails and with a City of Grand Rapids trail along Wealthy Street SW, establishing easy access to Millennium Park from southwest communities. A trailhead with seasonal restrooms at the north tip of the park also provides a perfect launching point for trail enthusiasts. The trail network also connects with the park’s Recreation Core, where it follows an enjoyable route around the perimeter of Lake Leota.

The trails at Millennium Park are open to foot traffic, bikes, roller blades and other human-powered devices. Motorized traffic and horses are not allowed on the trails, except for maintenance and patrols by park staff.

Boardwalks and bridges are common features along the trails, due to the park’s many lakes and wetland areas.

A new trailhead for Kent Trails at the north end of the park provides restrooms (open May-Oct) and convenient parking.

The trails at Millennium Park take you deep into the heart of this 1,500 acre greenspace, exploring woods, meadows, lakes and streams. Yet, all the while, you’ll never be more than a few miles from downtown Grand Rapids!
