Probation Residential Centers
The Kent County Office of Community Corrections plans to provide funding for 82 probation residential beds per day during FY 2007 (October 1, 2006 – September 30, 2007). Probation Residential Centers (PRC) provide an intensive level of community supervision for non-violent high-risk offenders who would likely receive long-term jail or prison sentences. These centers provide a structured sentencing alternative that frees up jail and prison space for more serious offenders and allows the offender to receive rehabilitative services.
PRC’s provide both core and non-core services to enrolled offenders. The core services provided by the funded PRC’s in Kent County include room and board, case management, intake and assessment, transportation, structured scheduling of activities, and referral for appropriate services. While in residence at a PRC, the offender will have a wide range of additional non-core services available to them based upon their identified needs such as substance abuse treatment, mental health counseling, education services, and employment and training programs.
