Budget and Performance Measure Information

Kent County OCC applied for the following funds for programming in FY 2007:

  • Comprehensive Plans and Services: $611,170
  • Probation Residential Funds: $1,352,325
  • Drunk Driving Jail Reduction Program: $87,600

These funds will assist the Kent County OCC in achieving the performance goals that have been articulated to the Kent County Circuit Court Administrator’s Office. These goals entail three different areas:

Prison Commitments

Statistics

The Kent County Office of Community Corrections department is responsible for collecting and analyzing data related to sentenced felony offenders, jail utilization and program performance. Specifically Kent County OCC gathers data related to the following items:

  • Felony disposition and offender characteristics based on information from the Basic Information Report that is generated by the Circuit Court Probation Department after an offender has been sentenced
  • Kent County Correctional Facility utilization and other information including lengths of stay for offenders lodged at the Kent County Correctional Facility
  • OCC-funded program performance and utilization data

Collecting, analyzing, and disseminating this data to stakeholders in the criminal justice system and local community aids the development of sound criminal justice policy. The following information is available as an example of the data analysis that can be provided by Kent County OCC staff:

Kent County Felony Disposition (2004 through 2006) by Disposition Type:
The size of the sentenced felony offender population and the types of sentences they received are illustrated in these two tables.

Selected Offender Characteristics (2003, 2004, 2005, 2006) for Felony Offenders Sentenced for New Felony Offenses:
These three tables illustrate the differences between those offenders sentenced for new felony offenses from 2003 through 2005 to dispositions involving prison, straight jail, a split sentence of probation and jail, or straight probation with comparisons based upon a number of selected offender characteristics.

Examples of Other Analyses:
The first of the following two charts illustrates the status at the time of their arrest for those offenders sentenced for new felony offenses and receiving prison dispositions. The second chart illustrates the prison and jail commitment rates for offenders sentenced for probation violations from 2003 through 2005.

Funded by public tax dollars, Kent County Office of Community Corrections is available to the community as a resource for data and statistical information regarding the criminal justice system in Kent County.
