The Circuilt Court commonly deals with civil cases involving more than
$25,000, criminal cases with serious misdemenor or felony offenses,
and cases related to domestic relations, child abuse, neglect or
delinquency. |

District Court |
The 63rd District Court is one of seven district courts in the county.
The district courts have jurisdiction over cases including, but
not limited to, cases involving civil infractions, traffic
violations, and small claims. |
| Clerk
of the Court |
As Clerk of the Court, the County Clerk receives, indexes
and maintains all circuit court files and collects all court fines, costs and victim restitution payments. |
| Community
Corrections |
Community Corrections supports and provides rehabilitation opportunites
for Kent County offenders, in an effort to promote the efficient
use of jail/prision beds while protecting public safety. |

Services |
The Court Services Department provides cost-effective alternatives to
incarceration, which enhances the effectiveness of the local criminal
justice system. |

of the Court |
The Friend of the Court manages cases related to domestic relations when determined necessary by a higher court. The Friend of the Court handles
child custody, child support and payments, among others. |

Detention |
The Kent County Juvenile Detention Center provides safe and secure short-term
care for juveniles who must placed in secure custody, to reduce the subject's
risks of inflicting harm on himself or others. |
| Probate
Court |
The Probate Court is primarily concerned with the protection of incapacitated
or mentally ill individuals and their assets and the proper transfer of
assets at death. |
| Prosecuters'
Office |
The Prosecutors’ Office is a representative for the State
or County in Circuit or District Court cases. |
| Sheriff's
Department |
The Sheriff's Department provides law enforcement and corrections programs to the community. The Sheriff's Department provides
emergency planning services, court security and maintains the Kent County Jail. |
